Ashiyana Nariani, MD, MPH, American Board of Ophthalmology certified, is a cornea specialist, refractive surgeon and anterior segment ocular oncologist.
She has received numerous accolades including the the Top 100 Women in Ophthalmology by The Ophthalmologist Power List 2021, the ASCRS YES International Grant and was one of top speakers for Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) 2020 Cornea Subspecialty Day. She is co-chair of the AAO 2020 Global Ophthalmology Forum.
Dr. Nariani has been the recipient of the J. William Fulbright Scholarship on blindness to India, the World Health Organization Internship on Blindness and Visual Impairment, the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship for service and Patient Service Value Award by the NorthShore University Health System for exceptional patient care.
She currently serves on the AAO ONE Cornea Network Committee, the AAO Global Education and Outreach Committee and Refractive Surgery Alliance (RSA) Executive Committee. She was the founder of the “2020!” Ophthalmology Educational Series and Chair of the 2022 Inaugural Global Refractive Surgery Summit.
Dr. Nariani has been involved in global ophthalmology working for India’s poor full time since 2019, where she performs the complex limbal stem cell transplants, corneal transplants and manages the ocular surface tumors.
She completed her Cornea, External Disease & Refractive Surgery Fellowship from the Duke University Eye Center and the Miracles In Sight Eye Banking Fellowship. Prior to that, she was chief ophthalmology resident at the University of Chicago Medical Center, completed a dual degree MD/MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine and graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in mathematics and chemistry.
